New Year’s on Nantucket: How To Make the Most Out of Your Trip

Sip a Beer at the Local Brewery

Cisco Brewers is Nantucket’s first and only craft brewery. One of the best parts about Cisco is that it’s open year-round! During your winter visit, stop at the brewery and enjoy a refreshing local beer. Be sure to try their seasonal beer, the Dock Lager. This light-bodied lager embodies the cold season with flavors of chocolate and biscuits.

Embark on a Winter Walk

Complimentary guided winter walks are back by popular demand! Join a ranger and ecologist from the Nantucket Conservation Foundation and explore gorgeous properties throughout the island. You’ll learn about the area’s geology, landscaping, flora, and fauna. You’ll get an up–close and personal look at beacheslighthouses, and rare habitats that make Nantucket so unique.

Party at the New Year’s Eve Dinner and Dance Party

One of the most notorious events for News Year’s on Nantucket is the New Year’s Eve Gala at The Nantucket Hotel. Each year the hotel hosts a wildly entertaining event complete with dinner, dancing, and Anchor Drop. The gala theme changes from year to year, but you can expect to enjoy a cocktail reception, an elegant dinner, live entertainment, a dance party, and a late-night bites buffet. Be sure to dress to impress—resort chic/ocean-inspired attire is encouraged (blue, seafoam green, and coral colors).

Gaze at the Festival of Trees

The Festival of Trees is a highly-anticipated holiday tradition here on Nantucket. Each year on the Friday after Thanksgiving, the Whaling Museum is transformed into a magical winter wonderland with community-designed trees from local artists, groups, kids, merchants, and nonprofit organizations. This festive event runs until December 31st.
