What You Need to Know About the Nantucket Island Ferry

They say, “it’s not about the destination; it’s the journey,” and the Nantucket island ferry proves that to be true. Watch the dolphins chase behind, catch a glimpse of the neighboring islands, and take in the beauty of the wide-open Atlantic Ocean while cruising towards one of the most sought-after destinations in the world. Here’s what you need to know before you go.

  • The Steamship Authority

The Steamship Authority is the most budget-friendly and straightforward way to get from one point to another. The no-frills ferry allows guests the option to bring their vehicles, bicycles, surfboards, wind boards, mopeds, and motorcycles.

If you don’t have any large cargo to tow along and want to get to Nantucket quicker than the rest, grab a seat on their high-speed passenger ferry. Expect to be at sea for roughly two hours and twenty minutes with the car and passenger ferry and under an hour for the highspeed ferry.

Local tip: If you’re a frequent ferrier, you’ll want to invest in a multi-ride card or discount ticket book. It not only makes boarding easier and more convenient, but it also guarantees discounts throughout the year.

  • Hy-Line Cruises

Hy-Line Cruises offers an experience with the ride. Climb aboard the Grey Lady and find your top-deck seat in Captain’s View Seating. Enjoy cable television, comfortable seating, and panoramic views of the water.

Hy-Line has been serving the Atlantic Coast since 1973, and they are committed to continually improving the islands. A portion of the ticket price for the Captain’s View Seating goes back to benefit islanders of generations to come. If you’re looking for a quick, comfortable, and one-of-a-kind way to get to Nantucket, it’s time to book your ticket with Hy-Line Cruises.
