Everything You Need to Know About Nantucket Fishing

Start planning your next great Nantucket fishing trip today. Cast out on the same shores as some of fishing’s greatest players and bring home more than just fish tales. Here is our guide to all of the best spots to float your bobber this season.

  • Eel Point

Eel Point is located on the Northwestern side of the island and acts as a peninsula to Madaket Harbor. It’s apart of the Nantucket Conservation Foundation and is home to some of the island’s sprawling mansions and sugary sand beaches.

The untouched landscape makes it an ideal shelter for flounder and bonito. The shoreline is broad and wide offering plenty of room to share the beach with fellow fishermen and beach-goers.

  • Cisco Beach

Cisco Beach is a popular spot for surfers and beach borders due to its intense surf and steady current. The beach is not blocked by any harbors or land formations, so it welcomes big fish to its shores. Look out for cusk, halibut, and pollock. Cisco Beach is the perfect day-trip getaway for those looking to escape it all.

  • Coatue Wildlife Refuge

Coskata Coatue Wildlife Refuge is nearly 400 acres of beaches and wooded areas that protect Nantucket Harbor from the Sound. It’s home to some of the island’s most coveted birds and rare plants. 42 acres of the refuge is owned and operated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, ensuring that all of the area’s rules and regulations are adhered to. You’ll want to pack your mackerel and jigs for this trip and plan to catch a lot of cod.

  • Deep-Sea Fishing Charters

Maybe 30 miles off the coast isn’t enough for you. Venture out to sea with one of the island’s premier fishing charters, such as Captain Tom’s Charters or Albacore Charters. Wave goodbye to the shore as you drift off to find your biggest catch yet!

Reel Into the Gorgeous Anchor Inn

After a day of bait and hook, you’ll be ready to rest away at our downtown bed and breakfast. Plan your stay in the cozy Greyhound Room and enjoy a plush queen-size bed, a flat-screen TV, Malin + Goetz bath products, and a complimentary breakfast each morning of your stay.
