Discover the Best Nantucket Beaches

While Nantucket offers some of the most renowned restaurants and shopping in the country, chances are you’ll find yourself beachside at some point during your Nantucket trip.

We have a list of the best beaches on the island that will immerse you in New England beach life. Explore the iconic lighthouses or catch some rays on the sandy shores—there’s something for everyone on the island.

  • Jetties Beach

Jetties Beach is picturesque Nantucket. It’s a short walk or bike ride from town, offers a sandy smooth beachfront, and is the perfect place to escape to if you’re not looking to start the car. It’s located on the north shore and is protected by the Nantucket Sound making it ideal for a calming swim or lazy floating.

  • Children’s Beach

Much like Jettie’s, Children’s Beach is centrally located right off the Downtown streets and within the stillness of the Sound. The beach park is ideal for kids due to its large playground area and lifeguarded swimming area. It’s the perfect spot to watch the boats roll in while basking in the warm rays.

Throughout the summer months, Children’s Beach is home to several Nantucket events including morning yoga, concert series, and more.

  • Steps Beach

Also located within the Nantucket Sound, but off the beaten path lies Steps Beach. The sandy shores are almost entirely protected by dunes with the exception of the extended wooden pathway of steps leading down to the ocean. You won’t find quite the crowds here because of its difficult terrain making hard for some to reach. However, it does not disappoint those looking for an adventure.

  • Madaket Beach

If you’re looking to take your jeep rental off-road, then Madaket is your spot. Enter at the western-most section of the beach and explore the coast making sure to stop for seashell finds and picnics.

  • Cisco Beach

Cisco Beach attracts most of the island’s surfing crowd. The beach is located on the south shore which is home to frequently changing currents and large waves so it’s recommended that only strong swimmers attempt the waters at this spot.

Ride along the Land Bank Trails and stop off for a surf lesson at one of the island’s most iconic attractions, Nantucket Island Surf School.

  • Siasconset Beach

If you’re looking to embark on Nantucket’s scenic cliffside walks, you’ll want to add Siasconset Beach to your list. In fact, if you’re looking for a scenic beach trip you may just want to scratch all other beaches off your list and dedicate your day to this natural wonder. You’ll want to pack your tennis shoes for this trip. Get there early and enjoy the morning seals sunbathing underneath the wide Atlantic sky.

  • Brant Point

Brant Point is home to one of the most photographed icons on Nantucket, Brant Point Lighthouse. The lighthouse was established in 1746 and is the second oldest in the country. The beach is just a short walk from town. Set up a beach chair for a relaxing place to watch the ships come in.
