How to Fill Your Following With Instagrammable Spots on Nantucket

Any island-goer knows that some of the web’s most popular Insta posts derive straight from the sandy Nantucket shores. Whether it’s the cobblestone streets, the quaint window boxes, the massive lighthouses, or the engulfing Atlantic, there is something about this little island that everyone loves. Embark (and document) your journey with our Instagrammable guide!

sankaty head light instagramSankaty Head Light

Go big or go home at this must-see Nantucket stop. The Sankaty Head Lighthouse is likely one of the most photographed symbols on the island, and rightfully so. The structure was built in 1850 and was the first lighthouse in the United States to receive a Fresnel lens. Don’t leave the island without a visit to this timeless red and white lighthouse.

steps beach instagramSteps Beach

There’s no shortness of natural beauty at Steps Beach. Ditch the chatter of humans for the songs of the birds at this stunning walk down to the Atlantic. Come in the morning for a fog-filled stroll to the mysteriously beautiful coast. Or spend your afternoon watching the waves crash on the shore. Be sure to snap a photo before you head down the wooden steps—you’ll want to capture floral-filled bushes mixed with the sugary dunes.

Cru oysters

Cru

We could fill this list with dozens of fabulous restaurants that will make tastebuds around the world stop and take note of your Insta-worthy, aerial-view, entree, but that would take far too long. We’ll stick with one of our favorites, Cru. While Cru does harness some of the best seafood on the island, we love it for its unfaltering views. The ocean-front Cru is the perfect place to take in the sights and sounds of authentic Nantucket. (And maybe a cocktail, or two, too.)

Bartlett Farm instagramBartlett Farm

The sunflower fields of Bartlett Farm are straight out of a storybook. Located three country miles outside of town, the historic farm started production in the early 1800s. The fields have grown since then. They’ve expanded to include a farmers market, garden center, a farm-to-table kitchen, and even Bartlett’s own ice cream truck!

Downtown Nantucket, Main Street

You can’t leave the island without documenting the overflowing window boxes and age-old cobblestone streets. You’ll find the best of it on Downtown Nantucket’s Main Street. You’ll (inevitably) start at the beginning of Main when stepping off onto the pier. Journey down past Quidley & Company to the white picket houses of South Main. Photo-ops are everywhere during this downtown excursion.

Madaket Beach instagramMadaket Beach

Madaket Beach on the Southside of the island is truly an untouched paradise. Capture the stillness of the shoreline paired with the passion of the sea. This side of the island also boasts some of the most stunning beach cottages that you will ever witness. You’ll want to be sure to stay for golden hour at this quiet spot.
